Safer work for greater wellbeing

Everything we do is meaningful and positively impactful – but it’s only made possible if we protect the safety and wellbeing of our people, workplaces and the communities we’re a part of.

Our health and safety initiatives are leading to better safer outcomes year-on-year. In FY26, we recorded an employee and contractor TRIFR of 3.3 comapred to a 5-year average of 4.7 for the combined business – which reflects our risk-based focus on proactively identifying and preventing hazards that could lead to serious injuries. From in-depth reporting to effective leadership coaching, we strive to make sure every person who’s a part of Whitehaven goes home safely at the end of the work day.

Mental health and wellbeing

We work to support the mental health and wellbeing of our people, which is important for a safe workplace. This includes eliminating or minimising psychosocial hazards. Our Employee Assistance Program supports our approach to mental health and wellbeing.

You can find the latest information on our management and performance in health, safety, and wellbeing in our People, Environment & Communities Report 2026.
